new tires and wheels! i wish i had done this sooner.
i bought a used set of stock LR3 wheels, sandblasted them, then painted with dupli-color and matte finish. was going to powder-coat until i read that this can weaken the strength of the alloy. and powder-coat still scratches anyway, so paint wins. did a crazy amount of research and ended up with a pair of 285/65/18 nitto terra grapplers with 1/2 inch tread depth and 10-ply steel belts. only rubbing so far is on the solid steel frame (should not cause any trouble) and the suspension wiring harness in the driver’s side wheel well. i’ve taped it tight, but will find a semi-warm day to redrill the anchor hole and move the cable up with some zip ties. also thank so much to the maker of the best LR3 suspension lift kit who prefers to remain un-promoted. contact me if you want the info.
everyone was pretty excited about finding their perfect roasting sticks. brooke’s innovative 3-prong roaster. in the background, andrew is setting up his slick single-roaster with a (handy) back-up marshmallow storage branch.
